Here’s the first FuglyMugz I officially announce on this new Blog thing. In fact, It’s the sixth one of the series and I called it “Emo Braces”. Since about a week or so, I had the idea of drawing a huge mouth with braces. I must say that I have orthodontic braces since almost 3 years now. I’ll have the device removed in a couple of months and had to do a special tribute (can you read the sarcasm). I had the concept of the mouth in mind but did’nt know how to complete it. Big eyes? Big nose? Acne? I wanted to focus only the Braces… so just before starting the video process I found it: A wonderful Emo hair cut and VOILÀ!!!!

It’s already been a month since I started the FuglyMugz project. I always wanted to update my Youtube channel on a regular basis but never really knew with what kind of content. Until now, it was random little doodles in fast forward but seemed to be well appreciated by the viewers. Just back from the International Licensing Expo in Last Vegas, I had a flash: Keep the same idea of quick doodles but always based on the simple concept of weird and funny head shots. I found a strange name, worked the concept a bit and started to produce one FuglyMugz a week.

This little project helps me to take a break from my usual work and I can update my Youtube channel at the same time. I don’t know exactly how long it will last, but i’m planning to do …

Les 3 projets sur lesquels j’ai travaillé durant les dernières semaines ont tous un point en commun; Ce sont des produits “Made in Québec”. C’est plutôt rare que j’ai à réaliser autant de projets Québécois en si peu de temps. Habituellement, si j’ai 2 projets de la sorte dans mon année entière, c’est un exploit! Je suis donc très content et j’espère que ça continuera sur cette lancée. Merci à Augury, Obsek et Eternal Judgment pour les beaux projets.

En Avril dernier on m’a proposé de travailler sur les Ramones. WOW! me suis-je dis. J’ai accepté sans hésitation de bosser sur ce groupe culte faisant partie de l’origine du mouvement PUNK des 70′s. J’adore le côté très léger, catchy voir même redondant, et humoristique de ce quatuor de rebelles en vestes de cuir et aux Jeans déchirés. J’ai proposé deux illustrations. Pour la première, je me suis amusé à redessiner leur mascotte Pinhead tenant des bats de baseball, rappelant ainsi le morceau Beat On The Brats. La deuxième était un peu plus humoristique et représentait Joey, Johnny, Tommy et Dee Dee surfant sur une vague gigantesque avec leurs instruments à la main. L’idée était de mettre en image la piece Rockaway Beach.

Je n’avais pas eu de nouvelles depuis un bon bout de temps et sincèrement  je commencais à douter …

Recently I realized that almost everything I post on the internet is written in english. The main reason: clients and business. It’s easier to reach more people by using an international language, but Since I’m french, I thought it would be great to also share my content in my native language. So until now, i’ll try to post my website content in both languages as much as possible.
